I honestly don't have a problem with the game being a DLC. This is like the expansions that came after Call of Duty, Call of Duty 2.

- Call of Duty: Finest Hour
- Call of Duty: United Offensive
- Call of Duty 2: Big Red One

And Nintendo actually released a DLC game, you know what game that is... (Tears of the Kingdom)

The issue is that the game from what I hear is buggy at launch, SBMM is turned up. So, even if you played beta and was interested... you would have been correct, but they turned it up to 10 at launch.

Infinity Ward is rumored to have sabotaged Sledgehammer Games with Modern Warfare III. There has been a civil war between IW and SHG going back to the Cold War development.

I remember that, but they DID have a separate free-to-play component. I think it became DMZ. It didn't get the fire it required to continue the project. You could also make the case that it can also be Warzone 2.0/3.0.

So, MWIII is premium, Warzone 2.0/3.0, and DMZ is free-to-play. I think that the stand-alone free-to-play game was scrapped after the DMZ beta test. It sounded like DMZ didn't get Blackout/Warzone growth they were looking for. They were trying to build on the niche market of Tarkov.
