Now that Christmas has come and gone, I can't be the only noob. :D Maybe this thread could serve as the resource for the newer players.

I've been playing for 12 days or so now. Like I said in my introduction thread - I've never really played a shooter before. I'm only playing Multiplayer. I've leveled up to 33 now but honestly think I should be about a 9 or 10 (at the most). My K/D is 0.22, and that's up from .19 that I was consistently at before unlocking Man O War.

-Would adding High Caliber to my gun increase recoil? I was getting better before I unlocked it. Then I leveled up the gun added High Cal and all of a sudden it seemed 'off'. Do I just have to get used to it again?

-I'm learning about lag and 'packet loss' . Even though I'm at about 40 ping or so, I am constantly seeing a different thing when I watch the Kill Cam. When it's 'live' I am already aimed and shooting however when I watch the Kill Cam, I'm still looking in a slightly different direction and being killed. This sucks bad as it is really the only thing that is making me wanting to just give up.

Hey Kami,

I have used the Man O War and my setup is usually:

Rapid Fire, Quick Draw and Stock. The Man o War has a really slow fire rate so that is why rapid fire is on. It all comes down to what your comfortable with.

I also suggest using the Kuda as your first gun. It can really do some damage to people and really in this game I find that the SMG's dominate. If you have some more questions let me know here or on twitter: https://twitter.com/OverFiist

Just followed. Thanks for the info. I have heard that Rapid Fire is the way to go but I've only leveled the Man O War to 8 so I still have a ways to go (Level 16).
For some reason, I've always gotten bored with the Kuda but will give it another chance.

I do play Hardcore when I play with my friends but not when I am solo. I do like the map so that is the only thing that keeps me from playing it all of the time. Guess I should just suck it up and play it all of the time.

Sub machine guns are king this go around of black ops. Try it and make sure to keep your gunfights close. Don't challenge anyone at range with an SMG, you will lose. Also, a good set of surround sound headphones with the awareness perk helps a TON. I like to pair my awareness perk with dead silence to maximize the ability to hear the enemy. You could also try increasing your controller sensitivity. It's weird at first but can make a difference once you get used to it. Good luck!

Thanks. I've tried with the Sub but just can't any traction. I'll try again tonight and stick with it. I just unlocked the Razorback but damage seems to be on the lite side. That's another question I was going to ask...about perks vs attachments. I really only use Fast hands and Gung Ho perks because I feel that I NEED the attachments. Like I mention in one of my 1st posts, I usually get killed even though I've shot my opponent first so I use attachments that gives me the most damage and accuracy.

You need attachments, but not for the reason you think. If you think attachments "add" to your stats, yes... but not by that much. It really depends on why you want to use it. I run with Silencers ALL the time, and has been since COD4. It takes your red dot off the radar. You can sneak on just about anyone with Silencers.

Most Attachments and to a lesser extent, most Perks don't boost damage in general. Improving your accuracy with perks is a general priority by the devs. However, to balance this, they tend give the perks or attachments less "oomph." They want you to really think about how you want to use your perks or your attachments.

For example, with Silencers, any weapon I equip it on - I lose a few damage points in exchange for staying off the grid.

Great info....I had no idea it was set up that way. I think all of my attachments used to be for damage because I was hitting my opponent 3-4 times and they were not dying. Now they are for accuracy and I took off FMJ & High Caliber. Other than optics I only have been using Grip and Quickdraw. Sometimes Stock. As for Perks I use Fast hands and Sixth sense. I haven't gotten good at sneaking up on anyone yet and don't really play that way (although I do find me saying why can I never find someone to sneak up on). I can try the Suppressor but what should I take off? I feel I NEED the assistance with accuracy still.

The reason why they're not dying is because they have a Flak Jacket perk. Stock and Grip are both accuracy boosters. However, you can't equip both because they're now doing "sections" for attachments. In the past, we could equip anything as attachments as long as they were part of the Pick 10 or the attachment slots.

However, in my opinion, you shouldn't focus too much on accuracy, because hit detection is pretty much 2 dimensional. I don't think they've figured out how to make hit detection 3 dimensional, where you can shoot a person's body and it inflicts damage on that particular area.

You gotta remember, they're still using the Quake Engine underneath that modified IW engine.

Okay, so I tried out your ideal loadout.

I tested it with Kuda, my main weapon at the moment. What I did is, I equipped both Stock and Grip. Pretty much, I was right and wrong. I was right, that Attachments are now situated into sections. I was wrong, that you couldn't equip Stock and Grip at the same time. When I made the post above, my assumption was that each one of the attachment slots available in BO3's Pick 10 has their own section - I was partially right. The first attachment slot is usually dedicated only to the weapon's optics. The remaining 2 slots are for everything else.

However, I assumed that both Stock and Grip will slow your ADS speed. Each one sacrifices your ADS speed on it's own, it's the developer's way of balancing. So, by the time you aim at a player in your view, the player already killed you. When you put both on, that ADS speed is reduced noticeably.

I was right. I tested it.

Cool, thanks for checking. I've wondered why when I add a certain attachment, I would sometimes do worse. I'd say that more than half the time when I added something, I'd immediately do much worse . I've gotten 'lost' sometimes when I level up so I may just chose a weapon and stick with it for a few days with NO attachments other than the optics & go from there. Thanks again for checking that!

Really useful thread, thanks for the info - especially the ADS bit (i did have to google ADS lol) - i'll deffo keep an eye on that as I progress.

With regards to Kontrol Freaks and similar stick extenders, I used to use the racing ones when I play Gran Turismo to help modulate steering and throttle - I believe they did make the difference. I will probably give a set a go when I get to a consistent level whereby I'll notice if they make a difference rather than it just being my noob skills improving :-)
