Weapon levelling

Hi, im new to COD and was wondering if higher leveled weapons do more damage than lower ones? So by that I mean if using the same attachments does a level 1 M4A1 do the same damage as level 50 M4A1? What im trying to work out is the only benefit to leveling up weapons is to get the better attachments?

the better the attchments the better the gun. Scopes increase gun accuracy meaning more damage at range and so on. It all depends on your play style for what attachments to use.

Thanks Knife I understand that, but what I want to know if using the SAME attachments do the guns do the same damage if one is a level 1 and another level 50

Straight answer is no. Unless you add modifiers like FMJ's like Knife said up there.

What he said. Gun does the same dmg regardless. The attachments help you to better put that dmg on target.

Better understanding can be found by yourself using an uzi or ak47. Crazy insane recoil puts your shots in the next map until you a) get used to the gun which comes from leveling it up, or b) get attachments to help with that recoil which comes from leveling it up. Point being, gun goes from seeming like it sucks to being insanely powerful. Makes it feel like it's doing more dmg even though it's not.

It is worth noting that each attachment has a benefit and a side effect, so a silencer makes it harder for hostiles to pinpoint your location, which is the benefit but it comes at a cost of reducing your muzzle velocity so bullets have less impact over distance or take longer to travel etc...

Over time you will come to know what attachments suit you better, despite some disadvantages on some attachments you might find certain loudouts work well for you while others just don't.
