New Monitor finally shipped

I don't have a PC setup .. yet.. someday
but I game on a 65 inch 4k tv I image when I do go PC I will do something like a 27 inch to 30 inch range for my desk.

WAY back in the day I used a 32 inch 720p TV LOL I had to turn my head to see each side of the screen and it took up pretty much the whole desk across it. Sigh those were the Everquest days...

I prefer a more reasonable 27" size and 1440p monitor to 4k, I am planning on getting one of these.

Im using a 28" Asus right now and I like the size in general. I have tried out a 32" Gigabyte and a 32" LG lately and I like the extra screen surface area. I had been looking at the LG's with the nano-IPS but way too expensive yet for my tastes. They look great! From what I have been researching the prices are expected to start to drop this year.

32's do take up a lot of desktop space but I have room to make it work!!

It's not just the space on the desk that you need to think about, it's the distance between the monitor and the user, viewing distances should be 1.5x the diagonal, so a 27"/28" monitor should be about 42" away, I can manage that, I can't manage 48" video distance from desk to the monitor.

If the screen is too close it can be quite overwhelming to try and view the whole thing.

Dell finally got off its ass and have shipped my new monitor!!!

It is the G3223Q 4K monitor.

Something I got to thinking, With my Company, we purchase like 15 -30 Pc's from them every year and it always amazed us because the Pc's would hit our place the same day we got notice from Dell that they were shipped. LOL.. I doubt thats the case now however.

Anyway my Gaming set up..

Determining the Distance

Between eye doctors and technology associations and companies, you’ll get a lot of different opinions on viewing distance. The above figures for a 27” 1440p gaming monitor are confirmed by our own experience and research by monitor manufacturers such as BenQ. However, you’ll have to figure out your ideal viewing distance by yourself. The objective is to avoid strain of any kind – eye or neck. You don’t want to tire out your eyes by sitting too close and seeing pixels one by one, nor should you injure your neck muscles by repeatedly moving your head left to right to take in a display.
Importantly, if your eye sight isn’t 20/20 then you need to adjust viewing distance to compensate – typically by sitting closer or getting a bigger display.

Size/ResolutionDistance Recommendation
24"/1080p3.2 ft
24"/1440p QHD2.3 to 3.2 ft
27"/1080p3.4 to 3.6 ft
27"/1440p QHD2.6 to 3.6 ft
27"/4K1.7 to 3.6 ft
32"/1440p QHD3.2 to 4.3 ft
32"/4K2 to 4.3 ft

Heh Well l am like at 6 feet away with my gaming chair so I don't have to turn my head but my eyes I have noticed DO miss the edges when stuff happens right at the edge of the screen. I seem to get "tunnel" vision sometimes and only concentrate on the center of the screen.
The Front Porch.. :p :p :p
