Why is CAMPING a crime?

We have all heard the cries about Campers. I get accused of camping all the time.

To be honest I dont think of myself as a camper in so much as I think I am trying to be tactical. Many disagree. Apparently it is PROPER game play to run around, bunny hop and perform circus acts getting kills but does that reflect real life? If this game was actual real life then I might survive my tour while many many more would just be another statistic.

Dont get me wrong because I know that this is just a game. Play however you want and if someone is CAMPING then go kill him or me. A word to the wise, I dont camp just one spot, I do have my favourites.
 
I camp, I camp all over the map!

Camping can be a good strategy, unless the strategic objective needs you to be elsewhere.

If the game mode requires you to reach an objective, such as capturing a zone or flag etc... and you are making good progress to your objective, only to be taken out by a player that's halfway between your spawn and objective, then it gets quite frustrating when it happens repeatedly, many people don't like this. Personally, I think people should learn from it, if a camper is constantly in a particular nest, then learn where they camp and plan a different route or plan a way to take them out.

In Black Ops Cold War, I got a stack of grenade, petrol bomb, and sticky bomb medals just by throwing them in through the windows in maps such as Apocalypse and Raid, both of which have rooms with good camping viewpoints and easy to beat locations when tackled with the right weapons and a little stealth.

If you know someone is coming in your direction, finding a good spot and preparing for their arrival so you can take them out is strategy. If you have laid traps by 1 entrance to a room, and then taken up position to kill anyone coming from the other entrance, just to spend the entire game there, that's camping and is letting your squad down just for your own gains. The first scenario is good and acceptable, IMHO, the second simply is not!!!
 
I agree with your thoughts. I play mostly whatever is offered up in Quick Play and Invasion. Depending on what is going on I will select my weapon and style based on what is presented.

I am an older player so I dont have the reflexes of most of the younger players and have no problem with that so I play any style that allows me to have fun. Im thick enough skinned that I do nothing but laugh to myself or over comms when I or someone gets called out for camping. One thing that I am always looking for while sniping is hunting for GLINT. You know what I mean and if I see it I cant help myself but to "send it" with extreme prejudice.

There is no PERFECT camping spot. I get blown up, burnt, shot, stabbed, clubbed and I deserved it. If a camper, me, is disrupting your game then simply eliminate the annoyance.
 
I prefer to call it Tactical Ambush.. :D

It's a tactic.. The only people who complain about it (myself included) are the ones who get killed when it's deployed :D
 
couldnt have said it better myself but i will add my sarcastic side. camping is strategic and the ones that are crying about camping are to stupid to look and be aware of their suroundings. its a combat game and you try to complete an objective or mission and you try to kill instead of being killed so to all the cry babies about camping. TOUGH SHITZ DEAL WITH WITH IT! IF THERE WAS NOT TO BE ANY CAMPING THE WOULD BE NO SNIPER GUNS WAKE UP OUT OF THE FOG YOUR IN PLEASE!

People just hate getting killed by a camper, One of the things I have enjoyed lately is a buddy instead of doing regular TDM sent us into Hardcore TDM.. No kill cams. YES it sucks but you know what you really do not know if you died by a camper unless you see them doing it and then well dummy do not go back the same way you are asking for the camper to kill you again. Beat them a different way use a stun grenade or flash or gas or smoke or frag their ass. whatever it is just do it differently cause if you go do the same thing and expect a different result are you not proving the fact you are INSANE?
 
LOL, I can do insane once in awhile!! It is not unheard of for a certain player who goes by the name of Cascadia who will sometimes (often) go back and try to take down that sonofabitch sniper camper lowlife to get revenge!!!
 
if i may say so in gameplay you would be camping bomb site to prevent defuse would that be correct.
and in one mode you are trying to capture a site and defend it by doing what? camping. thank you very much. i actually have an opinion on camper complainers but its to hard core for the forum and i would like to stay somewhat respectful and not get any private messages from carlos hehe.
 
I hate campers with a passion. Yeah, you. you. and you. Well, sniping is a camping position, but I mean. Back in my day, "Camping" constitutes a guy with a machine gun, sitting in the corner and just waiting for a unsuspecting watticus running across his worldview. However, Modern Warfare (2019) and the new Modern Warfare II (2022) encourages you to be a camper.

I just discovered that YouTube deleted GGReloaded's channel which means Camper Geographic series is memory hole'ed. Man, I hope the dude has that series archived somewhere.
 
If the objective is to protect the bomb, cover the zone your squad has captured, or otherwise be planted to complete a team objective while the other side attacks, then that's not camping, it is playing the objective.

If you're sat, hidden from view by the enemy spawn spot, waiting to pick people off as they return to the objective then that's camping, fortunately CoD spawn spots don't with the same way as Battlefield.
 
Those are great examples of acceptable "camping" Since I tend to only snipe in Invasion the OBJECTIVE is defined as preventing the enemy from advancing. By sniping from many different spots on the map I feel that I can safely say that I AM NOT A CAMPER thus I am vindicated!!!! :D
 
I camp on certain maps in certain situations and I do my best to own a section of the map in others and I also will roam the map on certain maps It all depends what map and what situation. Also type of game.
 
i camp whenever i want and nobody can stop me hahahehelmao. if no one likes it then everyone is invited to come find me camping and get some revenge. thank you all very much

The only problem with sniping, TOO MANY!!. A limit would be nice. Both end of invasion is littered with them.
Another thing is the minimap, its almost a wallhack light. I know half of the players start crying,
but removing it will get the gaame more challenging
