Cold War is constantly crashing, are shaders to blame?

I have a Dell Inspiron 7559 laptop. It has 8.00 GB of RAM,

Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700HQ CPU @ 2.60GHz, 2601 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s)

OS Name Microsoft Windows 10 Home

Version 10.0.19041 Build 19041

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M 4 GB GDDR5

Norton 360 Anti Virus

I can play games like Rainbow Six Siege and Destiny 2 without issue, but this game just will not work for me. It constantly crashes in the menu screen before I can ever do anything. It will not compile shaders (it will move up a random % and crash) and Scan and Repair has done nothing the 3 times I tried it. I have tried to play after disabling my anti virus firewall and auto protect and I have tried to play it after running as administrator. Nothing works, it just keeps crashing during shader loads.

The CPU is fine, the graphics card just meets the minimum requirements and 16GB RAM would make more sense for gaming.

As for the crashing, there could be a number of reasons why this happens, heat is 1 of the biggest issues with gaming laptops.

Find a way to lift the laptop up using something like a laptop riser to allow airflow to pass across the underside of the laptop, if you're have great related issues this might help.

The only thing you can upgrade on that laptop is the RAM, if you want to do this, it would be best to buy a full 16GB kit and sell the 8GB you have already as unmatched RAM could lead to even more stability issues. You will need to check the maximum installable capacity before ordering and what speed would best match your laptop.
