Connection, ms ping

Hello to all! And thanks for all the information!! I have a connection question. My wifi, when I test it has 20 ms ping but when I load multi player it goes to 40 ms and then once the gams starts it goes to 50 to 53 ms. Why is it going so high? I have a xbox x series connected with a ethernet cable. I understand the the cod server has a bit to do with the issue. I just don't understand why the delay increases so much.

Is it possible to connect your Xbox to an ethernet cable to your modem to see if that helps?

I do have it connected that way . I even took my stereo reciver out of the mix and it's still the same. Thanks for responding.
