FPS bug - drops from 100+ to 10

There are a few things you can do to maximise your chances of getting the best possible connection but if you share your home with others they might not go down well with them.

You can make sure nothing else is using bandwidth on your connection while you play or minimise the amount of data other people or devices use.

Best option is to set router priorities so that your gaming PC/console will always get pushed ahead of the queue when your household is busy by setting Quality of Service (QOS) options on your router. You should be able to set this using the Router's home page Admin menu.

Another big area for improving your connection is making sure you're wired and not wireless, if your PC/Console connects wirelessly it adds a few ms worth of delay that a cable would eliminate.

Lastly, try and game when the internet is not in use in your house.

All of these might help a bit, QOS will do the most for you to reduce traffic related interference to your connection, after that it's either get a server added close to where you live or move closer to the server.

Im in Denmark and I get anywhere from 25-42ms.

I had major problems with packet loss/package burst during season 4, and I even had technicians from my ISP come to check my connection. They couldn't find anything wrong though.

The package loss/burst thing stopped happening for me a couple of weeks before season 5 started (I have no idea how or why though)

Hey @bizzyVaping,

Hvordan har du det?

If I were a cynic my guess would be that Activision/IW fixed the issue at their end, but I don't want to say that, though there's no harm in thinking it right? So that's what I think. ;)

Hi everyone.

So like the title says, I'm experiencing some wierd FPS drops. It happens totally randomly. I usually play gunfight, but have gotten it in normal games aswell.
I recently purchased a new GPU, an RTX 2070 Super, and a new screen (165Hz). My other hardware should be more than capable, 16GB ram, 1TB storage space, AMD Ryzen 5 3600.
I didn't have this issue before, so I'm suspecting a recent patch may be the cause?

I run the game at highest settings without problems, but optimized MW in Geforce Experience to try and tackle the problem, but it still occurs at random.
I can drop from 100+ to around 10 fps, which pretty much breaks the game during a gunfight match. MW is the only game I have this problem with.

Would be very happy if someone had a fix for this annoyance!

Cheers

I have had this issue and I was worried it might be the new RAM I've added. There has been two updates and a new Nvidia driver since I added the RAM in the past couple days, but I'm on a 9700k 2080ti and just got 32gb of ram and all of a sudden I'll be in a match and start getting 15-20 frames in the red, and most of the time the packet loss icon will come up. Went through a million things trying to figure out what it is, all the mem tests I've ran have been fine, only other game I have is Flight Sim 2020 which seems to run fine, no major dips, but multiplayer something is going on, not sure if I want to pull the ram sticks I added, trying to see if I'm the only one. Going to run some tests in warzone and see what happens, I'm starting to think it's a multiplayer issue.

Bad RAM usually causes instability, crashes, and random blue screens.

With your RAM check you have setup your XMP profile in your BIOS to optimise the speed, that's all you can do, unless you're an overclocked.

The packet loss warning tells you packets are not getting through to the server, it doesn't tell you why. When we see many people complaining of the same issue it shows us that the issue is not linked to their PCs/consoles, the common factor is the service running on Activision/IW servers.

I have seen a lot videos from big youtubers where the packet loss/burst icon is constantly flashing. Im sure its a problem with either the game itself or the servers.

There's just too many people having problems for it to be hardware related.

That's what I've been saying for the last few days.

The thing we can all do, if we are being affected by this issue, go to the support links at the top of the CoD:MW forums and use the links in the Support thread to report the issue.

Check the game thoroughly first though, to make sure the issue is still there, I've played a few times since the last 10-15Gb update a few days ago and haven't noticed the stuttering.
