Game Patching

Just bought game on ebay and wondering if i can install patch 1.6 then 1.7 or do I have to go all the way from 1.1.
People seem to be giving mixed responces when i've searched around. Clafification please?

Yeah you can go from 1.6 to 1.7 and miss out all the rest
