Graphic settings changing randomly

I set my graphic settings. Then I log off and when I return, the setting are changed and I have to reset them. Not always but about half the time. I do his apply settings after changing them too. Im getting tired of having to reset my settings all of the time.

Yeah my shadow and tessellation settings seem to reset multiple times a week.

Its annoying as hell as im using a 1440p/144hz g-sync screen and the graphics has to be maxed out to keep the framerate at 144fps or below.

If/when if jump higher than 144 i start getting screentearing.

I used to get this on my PC, maybe not as often as you seem to be getting it, but it would usually happen after any updates, where it is 1 of those massive 20GB updates or just a simple 200mb update, straight after that my graphics settings would be different. Though for the last month or so, I have not noticed a change in my settings, I started the game up and it was running at between 220-250fps when previously it was running at 180-220fps, so I thought seeing as I like this change I will leave it and my frame rates have been more or less consistent since.

I use MSI Afterburner to keep an eye on my FPS, CPU + GPU temps, clock speeds and temperatures.

My last change actually improved my actual gaming experience with the boost in fps that I mentioned above, so I am happy to just roll with it, but I have a feeling it is related to the render resolution scaling where the game renders at a lower than optimum resolution in order to reduce the GPU workload and then upscales to the desired screen resolution. Upscaling uses a form of AI at a lower computational cost to rendering the full frame but graphically, it is hard for most people to tell an upscaled image and full resolution rendered image apart when playing at 230-250fps.

I allways change them back. Sometimes it'll last a few days, other times theyll reset again the first time I close the game

What happens when your graphics settings are adjusted? Does it make the gaming experience better or worse?

Has this been happening since you first installed the game? Or did it begin recently after a long period of everything running fine?

Have you noticed any other issues with your system? Like high temps, louder fans, intermittent crashes, etc...

Does you system meet/exceed the recommended specifications?

My specs far exceed the recommended specs. No problems with anything on the system. Running the geforce experience recommended settings for my setup (Everything maxed out) and getting in the 120-143fps range at 1440p.

It was more for the OP, but if you're both having the same issues then yes, trying to get a picture of whether or not it's something to do with the hardware or the software, though it seems to be software.

Are you running with Ray Tracing on? I've turned off on my PC which is why I get well over 200fps at 1440p, even with my CPU running in Power Saving mode so clocks stay at around 2.2Ghz.

I find it hard to explain this though, @freakdaddy64 and I have nearly identical specs but it never happens on his PC, it happens on mine though.

To add to what I've posted, this is what I've noticed on my PC, in no particular order:

- Screen changes from Full screen to Full Screen borderless
- Resolution dimensions change
- Render resolution changes from 100% to between 50-66%
- RTX gets turned on

I think they are the main issues, I've just checked on GeForce Experience and can see I'm currently set to run in Windows Borderless, at 2560*1440, 50% render resolution and RTX off, which might explain my superb FPS at the moment.

I can check in game later to see what the in-game resolution is running at, it will most likely be some random resolution.

I have my GeForce Experience set for performance but don't use the optimal settings from this as I get higher FPS as it is without it. Plus I think I get a few more FPS with G-SYNC off, also not seeing any tearing with that.

Lastly, I've read users with multiple monitors are more likely to experience issues, though I have only 1 monitor, but that might fit with 1 or both of you.

im going to try a few different things tonight. right now i run everything on low or disabled ray tracing off,pc resolution 2560x1440 refresh at 144 and in game resolution 2560x1440p and render resolution at minimum and some maps im getting 160 to 18 0 fps and others im getting 180 to 215

Cool, but as I said, you weren't having any issues with this, so you don't have the same problem to fix. I just pointed out that we were both running nearly identical builds but i getting this issue when you're not, unless you've started getting the issue since we last spoke about it.

actually im not going to mess with anything im good. i have not noticed changes i make reverting if i close out and log back in but ill keep an eye on it. and always remember to click apply settings after changes lol.
