Match making - how does it work

I was level 18 which despite double XP it's taken me a long time to get there. I thought I'd try Hardpoint. I was the lowest ranked player in the match. The average was probably 35. After dying 13 times with no kills I just bailed. Just curious how you get matched up like this? I'd dare say they all had much higher K/D ratios than my one which is around 0.5

I could be wrong, but I don't believe they match up players based on skill. To me, it feels like players are generally matched up on their ping to a server. Maybe there's some small use of "skill" behind the scenes that we don't see, but I doubt it's the highest ranking for matchmaking.

Yeah, same here, I am an average CoD player, never really had a KD over about 0.8. In recent CoD's I could always get at least a few games where I was even or positive. This game however has a higher skill requirement and I am getting smashed, especially in OBJ games. I usually go positive in TDM and FFA but in this game I struggle to go more that 0.5. Add this to the dodgy connection stuff and its just really no fun. I was just insta-deathed after getting several hit markers too many times so I decided to go back to Titanfall over the weekend just so I could feel like I was competing. Ha!
