Need some help Please

Hi,

We had a lan party this weekend and it was the first for my new PC.

I have a few questions.

Question 1
Sometimes when I enter the game (mp or sp) my screen turns black and then goes back to my desktop but you can hear the music of the game play and the game is on my task bar, almost as if I minimized it but when you click on it the screen goes black again but then goes back to my desktop. And then all of a sudden it opens normally.(after a few restarts and stuf) WHY?

Question 2
When anybody els hosts a game my PC does not show it so that I can join, but when I host everybody can join no problem. WHY?

Question 3
One of my friends has a headphone with a mic but nobody can hear him? How does it work?

Hi,

1) Have you updated to the latest possibly display drivers for your graphics card?

2) Do you have a firewall or anti-virus software running in the background, that could be causing an issue. Can you join by entering the hosts IP address?

3) Have you tested his mic on another computer to make sure it's fine on there? Or one of our headsets with a mic on his computer? Does it connect via usb, or the headphone/mic 3.5mm ports?

1) I am downloading them now and one of my friends told me I must try getting the latest directX.

2) My firewall is disabled but Avast is running in the background. I read about connecting using the console and ip address and port but how do I find out on what port the game is being hosted?

3) Ok we sorted this one out. He forgot to select it in control panel.
