Started Playing Again And I'm A Little Lost

Started playing Call of Duty again after 13 years and the game has advanced so much since then. XP? CP? I get that XP levels you up but CP seems pointless. Is it just for buying skins and stuff like that? Or can it be used to buy better weapons too?

Also how would I go about finding people to help me with missions?

XP is exactly how it sounds: Experience Points. So each action is leveling you up, like an RPG (Role Playing Game)...
CP isn't so obvious, because it's a branded "currency" in Call of Duty. "Call of Duty Points" allows you to purchase items (yes, like skins) from the Call of Duty Shop, that you go to in the tab menu. To GET the CP points, its in one of two ways: Buy it from the PlayStation Store, or Xbox Store - either by credit card, or the "gift cards." Or earn it via Battle Pass, but this is harder, and slower now than in previous Call of Duty games. If you played Modern Warfare (2019) you could earn CP points easier than now. You can earn points, but it's spotty now. If I was you, I'd save my CP points to 1000CP, and buy Battle Pass. But keep it hush hush because Activision doesn't want you to do that.
