Xbox Platforms Still Get Timed-Exclusive DLC

Since Black Ops, Xbox 360 has received DLC for CoD games first before other platforms. They've then had exclusivity with those DLC for about a month before other platforms would receive them. This is going to continue with the Xbox 360 and One versions of Advanced Warfare.

I don't have a problem with the timed exclusive DLC. CoD has always been more popular on the Xbox platforms, and I don't think that's because of the DLC situation.

Truth is, the fact that Xbox gets the DLC first is pretty annoying for the users of other platforms, but understandable. Microsoft wants to get into the Call of Duty craze, and they're doing pretty well so far. If I am not mistaken, Xbox Live has the most players in any Call of Duty game, compared to PSN and Steam (on which I am only seeing about 7k players on weekends on Black Ops 2).

I'm honestly surprised that getting them a month early has proven so successful for Xbox, I suppose people are generally impatient though. :)

I see that the Call of Duty series actually picked Xbox as their main sponsor. I feel like Xbox 360 had the most competitive players. I see the Playstation 4 being the Call of Duty's next home.

I think the Xbox platforms will keep the edge as far as number of players for CoD games is concerned. I'm not sure how much the exclusivity deal has helped Microsoft, but it sure hasn't hurt them in any way. With the last gen consoles, Microsoft absolutely had the better multiplayer infrastructure, although things are closer with this generation.

There is also something about that Playstation controller... I just don't feel like it's suited for competitive play. I'm no fanboy as I have a PS4 but the controller can get very uncomfortable.

This has been my gripe with PS for this generation and last. The controller, imo is too small for my ogre hands. It's the worst when playing shooters because i feel like my fat thumbs run into each other.

Same here. Maybe it's just uncomfortable to people with big hands?

I never thought about it, but you guys are right. The PS4 controller is a little small, especially compared to the bulkier Xbox 360 and One controllers. There's something about having a little bit of a weightier controller that's a benefit for playing FPS games. They just feel more solid during actual gameplay.

I think it is a great way for Microsoft to get a competitive advantage. I used to play on playstation and I was not happy about the whole deal. I don't think it matters too much though in terms of console wars, because it's not like playstation users get it before others. I really don't think this issue is a serious one to bring up; yet, I see people use it in an argument for which console is better.

While that's all good for Microsoft I hate the fact that this locks out some people out of potentially good content. It's not good for anyone.

MLG is lame anyways, just want to get that out there. Also they used PS3's for long time starting their CoD Scene. As well as I think Ps4 controller is way better. The new xbox controller sticks are too small and seems they insist on making them further and further apart every design.

MS and Activision had a deal in place before they knew about the sales were going to go in console. they usually do long term contracts when comes to this stuff.

Microsoft will always pay to have this deal until Call of Duty loses its relevancy.

Even if the series is going down in popularity, Microsoft will keep that deal going all for what it's worth. And wrong, that's been happening before Black Ops. Try since Modern Warefare 2. That is when they started it.
