Cross-Buy Promotion for PS3/PS4

Check out this deal that I had no idea existed. Until March 31, 2015, you'll receive a digital copy of Advanced Warfare for PS4 when you buy the digital PS3 version. The same applies for buying the digital PS4 version and getting the digital PS3 version free. It even applies to DLC purchases, including the season pass. The announcement seems to say that DLC purchases are available for the cross-buy promotion with no deadline.

That's a pretty cool promotion, and stats/in-game progress transfer from PS3 to PS4, too. If you haven't purchased a PS4 yet, then you can build your library before you get one, essentially for free. Heck, PS4 owners can just get a free copy for their old PS3s.

Nice find. I didn't know about that either. The game just gets better and better. My boys will love it because they are now using my old PS3 and massive library of games as their own. They will flip when I tell them they will soon have their own copy of CODAW to play and not have to wait for me to stop playing to play. Hmmmm I can see some arguments between them looming down the road though. Guess we will be scheduling PS3 time after the game gets here.

I think this is a really nice trend, and a really welcome one. I hope it will stay here for as long as developers will still be making games for last-gen. Does anyone here know if this will apply for XBOX too?

It looks like it applies to PS3/PS4 as well as Xbox 360/Xbox One. That's a pretty awesome opportunity that I can see a lot of people taking advantage of. I'm not sure it will entice anyone to buy a next gen console that wouldn't otherwise, but it will definitely make gamers want to upgrade a little bit sooner than they were planning.

they did the same thing for Destiny. If you own last gen, you can purchase on that and essentially have two copies of the game. I believe you have to buy digital though.

I think it is great to have this. I am not going to be able to get my PS4 until December. I am lucky that I can get the game for PS3, but then later download it for PS4.

I didn't know Destiny had that deal, too. Then again, I haven't purchased or played Destiny. It does require the purchase of the digital version, and I do know some people that would pass on the offer because they prefer owning physical copies of their games.

It's a nice deal for people on PS3 about to upgrade to PS4. I probably wont get a PS4 till December of next year, so I'll still have to play AW on PS3 if I don't want to lose my stats. If Advanced Warfare is good, though.

Wow, this is wonderful news. I'm buying the digital copy for PS3 and I'm getting the PS4 this holiday season. It's nice to know I won't have to double purchase. The lady wouldn't be too happy about that.

That's cool to know! But I don't have a PS3 so I can't really utilize this deal unless I get it again. I'll just be using my new PS4! But do Xbox players get this deal as well?
