I've purchased a Secret Labs chair and it was a solid and quality built chair. However I needed something that was more comfortable for extended sitting since I work from home too. So I use the Serta smart layers chair and it's amazing.

I picked up a pre-owned office chair in a liquidation sale some years ago, it was really cheap and I fully expected to be replacing it within a year or.

That was in 2014 and I still use it now.

It is surprisingly good, height adjustable arm rests that also twist, height adjustable seat (of course), recline feature, and 5-wheels underneath, with plenty of adjustment options. My chair is clearly an office chair, and I can sit in it for ages with no discomfort.

Gamers Nexus did a comparison video where they compare gaming chairs and office chairs, check it out to see what Steve (tech Jesus) said about them here:

So, lately, I've been doing a lot of stuff on my PC with my Logitech G915 and the Logitech G900-whatever mouse that both outperform any other device in the wireless department that makes them great for PC gaming and work on a HTPC setup like what I'm rocking here. The only thing that's not quite "premium" about this arrangement...is my chair. It's comfortable to be sure, but there's times where I want to lean back like today due to me being tired and just wanting to get some shut eye without actually lying down and risk getting indigestion after eating/drinking something my stomach might have trouble with. And I'm trying to break free of the habit of drinking stuff like Mountain Dew to keep me awake on days where it's like I get some sleep, but not all of the sleep I need, you know?

Thing is, with chairs, you have to really sit in them and try them out to have an opinion of them. Not every chair is made for everyone, and when it comes to the DXRacer chairs (the ones with the head pillows on them), I just find myself wondering if they're all they're made out to be, as there's also the chairs made by Maxonomic. I'm sort of wondering if anyone has an opinion on these, and where the best place to be to try them out at.

Some of the premium makes have a buy to try period and you can return them if they are not to your liking, but these come at a high price, some cost as much as a gaming grade CPU but should be more comfortable to sit on then a CPU.

I tried a gaming chair, and I did a review on it. It's hard to explain in a forum post, so I'll just link it.

its simple folks if you weigh 185 lbs a gaming chair may be great but if you wiegh more then that like i do gaing chairs will not work go get a nice office chair with thick bottom that will last.

I didn't have time to read the full review, so I skipped to the conclusion, and the first thing that stood out was:
As a first time buyer of Gaming Chairs, I am sorely disappointed with the quality of Gaming Chairs.
Now I am not only going to tell you why you're wrong, but also why I am wrong for the same reason.

In much the same way that I can't really say how good or bad your entire review of you gaming chair was, based on this single sentence, it is hard for you to be able to judge every gaming chair based on the single chair you've owned.

That said, 1 of the YouTube tech channels that I follow did some research into gaming chairs, and found that except for a few top tier brands, many of the gaming chair designs from many distinct brands were all being produced in a small number of factories and then simply being branded and priced to suit.

I can't find the video now, but think I remember that some top-tier PC component manufacturers, each with a gaming chair design, were all selling the same chair with subtle changes in colour, cover materials, included accessories (head and lumbar cushions etc...), and price.

It was only when you looked at the top tier gaming chair brands like SecretLab and Herman Miller that you were seeing chairs that were specifically being made to offer a unique difference to the rest of the 'mass' produced and branded options.

I can't say for sure if your chair was 1 of the branded models from 1 of those small number of manufacturers, but I wouldn't be surprised if nothing has changed since I watched that video and your chair was from a Chinese factory that operates that way.

Gaming chairs that are made for a fuller figured gamer do exist, SecretLab produce the Titan Evo in 3 sizes, as you can see in their FAQ on their website or in the spoiler here.

The Secretlab TITAN Evo is available in three sizes — Small, Regular and XL. We don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to our chairs, so we have different sizes for different heights and builds. In addition, our S and R sizes come with shorter, re-engineered hydraulics to allow more people to easily set their feet flat on the ground for a more ergonomic posture.

That aside, all three sizes share the same features, so you enjoy the same support no matter which one you choose.

Secretlab TITAN Evo (Size Small)
Recommended height: ≤5ft6” / 169cm
Recommended weight: <200lbs / 90kg
Max. weight: 130kg

Secretlab TITAN Evo (Size Regular)
Recommended height: 5ft7”-6ft2” / 170-189cm
Recommended weight: <220lbs / 100kg
