Problems with cheaters in multiplayer mode

It gets worse on PS3 the farther back int he franchises history you go. I see them all the time in MW2 games today. But Sony is particularly aggressive with anti hacker initiatives and software updates. Annoying though they are, they keep our lobbies relatively well tended. THis is especially true after hackers compromised use information a few years ago. Sony should not have been caught with it's pants down but they at least learned from their mistakes.
Yeah, this is true. I haven't seen any hackers in Black Ops 2 so I believe your statement might be correct.. There definitely are a lot less hackers with the newer games.

I don't see cheating going on as much as it used to back in the Modern Warfare 2 days.
As BTCGuru said, Sony has been cracking down on these hackers and bots who try to destroy the experience of others.
It's not as common as it was before.

im an xbox player and i only play ground war and dropzone, i have never once found a cheater using hacks of any sort. Boosting seems to be common in infected tho, it doesn't bother me tho because if there boosting i know how boring it is its pointless. I just think haha your wasting your own time for a silly rank ;)

Number of hackers by console

1) PC
2) PS3
3) Xbox

I've played all 3, and I gotta say, so many hackers on PC. Every single game I join on MW2 has like an aimbotter or a wallhacker.

It's really terrible in MW3 and MW2 and the older games. Bo2 doesn't seem to have nearly as many cheaters.. but with MW3.. if I were to join a ground war lobby, there would be a cheater 90% of the time. As long as I played dom/tdm/drop zone there was very rarely cheaters. I play mw2 a lot though and you'll most likely find a cheater in just about every game. Whether it's obvious cheats or wall hack or whatever..

As for the whole DLC thing.. I could see how that would be true. When I got the DLC for MW2 there was a lot less hackers to the point where I could enjoy the game more...

It really all depends on the specific game you're playing. Depending on the version of the COD game, there's ways to stay away from hackers. That's why I like cod games with dedicated servers.. you can just call an admin and have them come kick the hackers.

I have never played with a hacker in Black Ops 2, which is nice :). I played on the free weekend (which is the time where there WOULD be a lot of hackers, if any) and I didn't encounter not even 1!

It's strange to me that some of you would consider Modern Warfare 3 an older game. Anyways, I've never encountered hackers once while playing so I don't really know what you guys are talking about. Maybe it's just bad luck? I don't really play MW3 multiplayer as much as I play MW2 and Black Ops 1 multiplayer but even on the other two games I've only encountered hackers maybe three times. Keep in mind, this is over the course of since those games both came out. Maybe you guys just play much more than me and thus will be more likely to encounter hackers at some point but I'm feeling like it's just a luck deal.

How bad is it for you? I had a lot of encounters with cheaters while playing multiplayer modes and I have to say it gets to me after a while.

Friends told me that getting the DLCs will get rid of some of the cheaters. Is that true?

To me it feels like I should just get used to it and exit the game when I see one because obviously the devs aren't going to do anything about it soon. I don't feel buying the DLCs to get rid of *part of the cheaters* would be a worthwhile investment for me.

I wouldn't be so sure if I were you.
I've seen a million tutorials showing how to get the DLC for free and in all consoles ( xbox, ps3 and PC ).
I recomment that you should do your best when you see a cheater and then report him in any way you can. If you don't want to miss the game by exiting, after the end of the game you should leave and join another lobby.

The hacker issue in Modern Warfare 3 for PC is huge. I prepurchased the game and played it from the day it was released. After just a week I encountered the first cheaters. It is sad, really. A game only 1 week old and has cheaters. I think they need to improve not only on gameplay based issues, but cheater protection aswell. I am not a programmer, so I am not sure how hard it is to do, but valve has VAC that works perfectly for their games, so why can't it be for Call Of Duty aswell?
