RAM Compatibility

I have been building PCs for a couple decades now..

But RAM compatibility has always been like voodoo to me..

I have a PC that I am trying to upgrade the memory..



The upper stick set(4) works fine in the PC...

The bottom stick set(4) do not boot at all...


Is this a RAM Compatibility issue or do I have bad sticks in the lower set...

Try mixing two from each set and see if that works. I doubt it will but if it does boot then check to see how much ram is showing. Personally, I think the sets are not compatible. Are the Kingston ones 8g?

I think they are 2gb sticks..

I would say that it is totally incompatible with each other and perhaps even with the motherboard.

Mixing the mem didn't work.. Not really surprising..

The Motherboard is an ASUS Q87M-E..
